Dear Welder Series… 1950 Chev 3600 Mustang II?

Dear Welder Series…
Is the 56″ Mustang II kit heavy duty enough to use with a 1950 Chevrolet 3600 Truck?
I saw it on Trucks! with there 1949 Chevrolet 3100 Truck.
Can it be modified to use eight lug rotors and wheels?

Dear Ron…
Ron, I think the 3600 series was the 3/4 ton version.  The Mustang II would still be ok for this truck as a street rod.

I’m not aware of a way to convert the hubs to 8 lug, but if you feel you need such a heavy-duty wheel, probably the Mustang II is not the best front suspension choice.  I’d leave the axle in it.

Thanks for looking at Welder Series parts.

Dear Welder Series…
Paul, thanks so much for responding to my questions.

I am just beginning to work on the truck. It is a 3/4 ton and completely original except for the paint and a complete steel truck bed.
Trying to look at my options as I work to resto-mod the ’50 Chev Truck.
Really like what I see in your products (per TRUCKS! ClasSix episodes on modifying ’49 Chev Truck 3100). Just want to make sure that they would be strong enough for the 3/4 ton version versus the 1/2 that was done on TRUCKS!
Looking to lower the truck and give it a street rod look and ride. I will probably go with your company’s Mustang II front end and rear end crossmember kits. Will get back with you hopefully soon as I get to the trucks foundation.
